The implications of Asset Class Trends in Evaluating Potential Portfolio Losses
Thursday, June 5th Typical measures of portfolio risk fail to account for the realities of the financial markets. In this webinar, we explore several measures of portfolio risk that can provide more robust estimates of potential portfolio losses.
We show: - That understanding how assets behave during financial market turbulence, and not just during normal times, leads to better estimates of future potential draw downs.
- How insights into portfolio behavior throughout the investment period, and not just at the conclusion, provides valuable information for those investors concerned about breaching particular loss thresholds.
- New research that explores how asset class return trends (autocorrelation) can lead to much higher tail risk exposures than many investors might be aware. We demonstrate how block-bootstrapped simulations can incorporate asset class trending information and provide a more realistic estimate of potential losses.
